Sharon Van Etten + Josh Homme

The voices of Sharon Van Etten and Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age) come together in a re-recording of the classic 1970s song “(What’s So Funny‘ Bout) Peace, Love and Understanding ”by English singer and songwriter Nick Lowe. But, it became better known with the version made by Elvis Costello and the Attractions.

The choice of “(What’s So Funny‘ Bout) Peace, Love and Understanding” by the two artists serves as a mirror of the current moment. The lyrics of the song are about lost hope, pain and “searching for light in the darkness of insanity” - that make us think about a South American country.

Update: 5/20/2020

Sharon Van Etten and Josh Homme's version of “(What’s So Funny‘ Bout) Peace, Love and Understanding ”won a video clip that brings together scenes of the two artists singing the song in their homes with family members as extras.

“(What’s So Funny ‘Bout) Peace, Love and Understanding”

"(What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love, and Understanding" was released in 1974 on the album 'The New Favorites of ... Brinsley Schwarz', the last of the band Brinsley Schwarz, of which Nick Lowe was a member.

The version of Elvis Costello & the Attractions was produced by Nick Lowe himself and released in 1978.
