Mimi Parker

American Mimi Parker, vocalist, drummer, songwriter and co-founder of the band Low, died yesterday at the age of 55. She was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in late 2020 and has since been undergoing treatment for the disease. In recent months, several concerts by the band have been canceled due to the worsening of the disease.

The announcement of Parker's death came from her husband and bandmate Alan Sparhawk:

Friends, it’s hard to put the universe into language and into a short message, but

She passed away last night, surrounded by family and love, including yours. Keep her name close and sacred. Share this moment with someone who needs you. Love is indeed the most important thing.

Low was formed in 1993 by Sparhawk, Parker and bassist John Nichols. With the departure of Nichols in 1994, the couple became the main core of the group. The band's music is mostly associated with the slowcore and dream pop genres.

The most recent album released by the band was Hey What from 2021. This work was positively received by critics.

Between 1994 and 2021, Low has released thirteen studio albums.
