Influenced by artists such as Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Cash, DonovanThe Everly Brothers, Oasis and Arctic Monkeys, English singer-songwriter Jake Bugg emerged in 2012, at age 18, on the British chart with his debut album, self-titled, a record of good songs like "Lightning Bolt", "Country Song", "Lightning Bolt", "Two Fingers" and "Seen It All".
Born Jacob Edwin Kennedy on February 28, 1994, in Nottingham, Bugg was enrolled in a music technology course, but left at age 16 to write his own music. In 2012, he had a busy year, going on to tour extensively across the UK and appearing on TV shows such as the BBC's "Later... with Jools Holland". In 2013, he received nominations for coveted awards such as the BRIT Awards and the Mercury Music Prize.
Also in 2013, the musician went to Malibu, California, to work on his second album with producer Rick Rubin. The result was Shangri La, released in November 2013. Bugg returned with a new studio album in 2016 when he released On My One. His fourth album, Hearts That Strain, produced by Dan Auerbach, was released in 2017. In 2021, the singer returned with Saturday Night, Sunday Morning.
