Swedish indie folk duo, First Aid Kit was formed in 2007 in the city of Stockholm by sisters Johanna (born October 31, 1990) and Klara Söderberg (January 8, 1993), when Klara was only 13 years old. "Tangerine", one of their first compositions, was the first song by the young women to be played on the radio in Sweden.

In 2008, the label Wichita Records released the EP Drunken Trees in the United Kingdom, with a re-recording of the song "Tiger Mountain Peasant Song" by Fleet Foxes as a bonus track. The cover spread the name of the duo on the internet.

Entitled The Big Black and the Blue, First Aid Kit's first album came out in 2010. Afterwards, the duo toured, also outside Europe, through the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. In January 2012, the band released their second album, The Lion's Roar. In the same year, Klara and Johanna were attractions at the American festivals Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits Music Festival.

The excellent Stay Gold, third album, arrived in June 2014. With collaborations from musicians Peter Buck (R.E.M.) and Glen Kotche (Wilco), the duo's next album, entitled Ruins, was released in January 2018. In September of the same That year, First Aid Kit released ender Offerings, a four-song EP from the Ruins recording sessions. The duo's fifth album, Palomino, arrived in 2022.
