The National anuncia tributo ao Grateful Dead com quase 70 convidados

Os norte-americanos do The National anunciaram que o disco de homenagem ao Grateful Dead, de que inicialmente falaram em 2011, está finalmente pronto. 

Parecido com a compilação Dark Was The Night , de 2009, na qual contaram com ajuda de várias bandas, desta vez o disco contará com "quase 70 colaborações", disse o baterista Bryan Devendorf ao Stereogum. 

"Está lá toda mundo", confirma o guitarrista Aaron Dessner. 

Entre os convidados confirmados, encontram-se Justin Vernon (Bon Iver), Sharon Van Etten, The War on Drugs, The Walkmen, Tunde Adebimpe (TV on the Radio), Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Marijuana Death Squad, Kurt Vile com J. Mascis, Daniel Rossen (Grizzly Bear), Phosphorescent, Fucked Up, Perfume Genius, Ira Kaplan (Yo La Tengo), Stephen Malkmus e Lee Ranaldo (Sonic Youth). 

O The National também gravou uma versão para o disco, da canção "Peggy-O", que Aaron Dessner diz ter sido a favorita do vocalista Matt Berninger. 

Para acompanhar os intérpretes individuais ou as bandas menos familiarizadas com as canções dos Grateful Dead, os irmãos Bryan e Scott Devendorf gravaram 25 faixas. Muito do material foi registrado numa igreja perto de Woodstock, no estado de Nova York.
