Led by Joe Talbot, IDLES is a band from Bristol, England, formed in 2009. In their early years, the band lived in obscurity, which must have served to shape their music that presents doses of aggressiveness, typical of punk rock, label assigned to the group, but rejected by its leader.
IDLES was slow to appear. However it arrived with two critically acclaimed albums — Brutalism, the debut, released in 2017, and Joy as an Act of Resistance, released the following year. In 2020, the band returned with Ultra Mono. The fourth album, titled Crawler, arrived in 2021.
In 2024, the group released Tangk, an album co-produced by Nigel Godrich, Kenny Beats and the band's guitarist Mark Bowen.
