Terraplana

Exploring elements of shoegaze, post-rock, indie rock, and slowcore, the band Terraplana (stylized in all lowercase letters) became one of the standouts of the Brazilian independent scene in the first half of the 2020s. Their national recognition came mainly with Olhar pra trás, their debut album released in 2023 by Balaclava Records, which paved the way for performances at major festivals and the band’s expansion on the independent concert circuit.

Formed in 2017, in Curitiba, Terraplana established its lineup with Stephani Heuczuk (vocals and bass), Vinícius Lourenço (vocals and guitar), Cassiano Kruchelski (vocals and guitar), and Wendeu Silverio (drums). Their sound combines dense, distorted guitars, layers of noise, melancholic atmospheres, and delicate vocals, with their songs sung mostly in Portuguese.

In 2017, the group released its first work, the EP exílio. Six years later, they released olhar pra trás, an album that solidified his identity by blending the power of shoegaze’s wall of guitars with introspective and melodic passages.

The second album, natural, was released in March 2025, and the quartet expanded their sound by incorporating elements of indie rock and grunge, without abandoning the atmospheric textures of their previous work. The album was produced and mixed by American musician and producer JooJoo Ashworth.

Also in 2025, Terraplana performed at the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival in Austin, Texas, and recorded a session for the Audiotree Live series. Their international profile gained new momentum in 2026, when the band played at Lollapalooza Brazil, toured the United States, and embarked on their first European tour.
