The Temper Trap is an indie rock band formed in 2005 in Melbourne, Australia. The band’s lineup consisted of Dougy Mandagi (vocals), Jonathon Aherne (bass), Toby Dundas (drums), Lorenzo Sillitto (guitar), and Joseph Greer (keyboards and guitar). In 2006, the group released their self-titled debut EP.
In 2008, the group moved to London. The following year, they released their first album, titled Conditions. The album was produced by Jim Abbiss, a producer who has worked with artists such as Ladytron, Arctic Monkeys, and Adele.
In 2012, the band released their second album, The Temper Trap. In June 2016, their third album, Thick as Thieves, was released. After touring in support of that album, the band went on an extended hiatus in 2018, interrupted only by a few occasional performances.
The Temper Trap resumed their activities with new material in 2025, when they released the singles “Lucky Dimes” and “Giving Up Air.” In 2026, the band released Sungazer, their first album in ten years.
