The band The War on Drugs is back with “Who’s That,” their first new release since 2022, when they released “Oceans of Darkness” and “Slow Ghost” on the deluxe edition of the album I Don’t Live Here Anymore (2021).
The new track was written and produced by the band’s frontman, Adam Granduciel, at his studio in Burbank, California. According to the musician, the song came together in just ten minutes, between his first cup of coffee and the time he dropped his son off at school.
Granduciel describes “Who’s That” as a reflection on trying to love oneself despite factors we can’t always control, such as anxiety, depression, and insecurity—feelings that often prevent us from living the life we truly desire.
The single is accompanied by a music video directed by Max Flick, which features Granduciel on a nighttime stroll through the streets of Burbank. The release marks the band’s first new material since the release of the live album Live Drugs Again (2024).
