Apple ameaça fechar iTunes
A Apple poderá acabar com o iTunes se for aprovada uma lei nos Estados Unidos que prevê o aumento dos direitos de autor, fazendo com que a empresa tenha de pagar mais aos produtores musicais por cada tema vendido. A National Music Publishers' Association, o organismo que representa os produtores e os escritores de canções norte-americanos, quer que os direitos de autor passem de 9 cêntimos para 15 cêntimos (aumento de 66%). Segundo os analistas, quem suportaria este aumento seriam os consumidores. A Apple reagiu a esta proposta de lei dizendo que não subirá os preços para conseguir compensar o aumento e que poderá encerrar de vez a loja. O vice-presidente da empresa, Eddy Cue, disse: "A Apple já deixou bem claro que está neste negócio para fazer dinheiro e o mais provável seria encerrar o iTunes se este deixasse de ser tão rentável".
