
Jennifer Finch , bassist, vocalist and composer of the band L7, passed away yesterday, the 18th, victim of an aggressive form of brain cancer. She was 59 years old.
The death announcement came on the band's official Instagram page:
"With a very heavy heart we announce that our beloved bandmate, friend, and fellow troublemaker Jennifer Finch has passed away today. She had a long courageous fight with brain cancer and was loved by many wonderful friends, musical peers and fans worldwide. We love you Jennifer.
Born on August 5, 1966, in Los Angeles, Finch was raised by adoptive parents. His musical career began in 1984, in the band Sugar Babydoll, alongside Courtney Love (future vocalist of Hole ) and Kat Bjelland (future lead singer of Babes in Toyland ). Sugar Babydoll had a short life and, after other projects, she joined the L7, a band formed a year earlier by Donita Sparks and Suzi Gardner.
Jennifer Finch was at L7 until 1996 and returned in 2014.
The cancer diagnosis was announced on July 13. A campaign to raise funds for the treatment was started on the GoFundMe platform, which had already exceeded $300,000 in donations.
