After rumors of an extended break, the Pearl Jam announced its plans for the coming months.
In an interview with Billboard, guitarist Stone Gossard revealed that the band will play at the Bridge School Benefit in California. This will be Pearl Jam's eighth appearance at the event organized by Neil Young and aimed at helping children with severe disabilities.
"It will be our 20th anniversary, which is appropriate," explained Stone Gossard. "It's not too flashy and it doesn't exactly have to do with us, but rather with those kids who are on stage with us and with Neil Young, their commitment and their influence."
Pearl Jam celebrates its anniversary on October 22nd, the date on which, in 1990, they played in a small club in Seattle, still under the name Mookie Blaylock.
In 2011, Pearl Jam may tour South America, according to Billboard.
In the same interview, Stone Gossard says that preparation for Pearl Jam's new album will only begin after the tour of his other band, Brad, who is preparing to promote the new album, "Best Friends?", on a tour with Band of Horses.
"We had already started talking about [writing a new album] but I think this tour with Band of Horses will make things difficult. But Pearl Jam will definitely start doing some things, at first without Eddie Vedder, preparing some demos for him to listen to", said Stone Gossard.
Recently, Eddie Vedder contributed his song, "Better Days", to the soundtrack for the film "Eat, Pray, Love", with Julia Roberts.
The meeting of the Soundgarden , with Matt Cameron, from Pearl Jam, on drums, was also praised by Stone Gossard. "You can see the devotion they have to their music and how they are playing with conviction. It's also proof that a drummer can play very differently in different bands." (Blitz)
