PLAY ME is the title of Kim Gordon's third solo album, released in the wake of Sonic Youth's breakup in 2011. Preserving the essence of experimentation and noise from her former band, she incorporates elements of contemporary electronic music to create her own unique and current sonic identity.
The first sample of this new work is the track "NOT TODAY".
"NOT TODAY" revives the style that Gordon sang in Sonic Youth, as she indirectly confesses in a statement about this song:
I started singing in a way I hadn’t sung in a long time. This other voice came out.
