Fin del Mundo is an Argentine band formed in 2019 in Buenos Aires by Lucía Masnatta (guitar and vocals), Julieta Heredia (guitar), Yanina Silva (bass), and Julieta Limia (drums). By exploring elements of genres such as post-rock, shoegaze, dream pop, and post-punk, the quartet has created a distinctive sound, combining atmospheric guitars, distortion, long instrumental passages, and sparse lyrics. Their local success spread beyond their country’s borders, leading the group to tour Europe, Mexico, Brazil, and Chile.
The band’s major international breakthrough came with the recording of a live session for the cult American radio station KEXP, hosted by Cheryl Waters. The recording took place at the Kirchner Cultural Center in Buenos Aires in September 2022, as part of the special KEXP Live from Argentina program.
The name “Fin del Mundo” refers to Tierra del Fuego and the city of Ushuaia, in the Patagonia region — a vast area at the southernmost tip of South America where Lucía Masnatta and Julieta Heredia are from.
The group’s discography began with two EPs released digitally: Fin del Mundo (2020) and La ciudad que dejamos (2022). The eight tracks from these works were compiled on the compilation album Todo va hacia el mar (2023), released on vinyl, CD, and cassette by Spinda Records. The band’s first studio album, Hicimos crecer un bosque, was released in 2024.
