An English band formed in 2006 by Jack Barnett (vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, producer), his twin brother George Barnett (drums), Thomas Hein (bass, keyboards, drums) and Sophie Sleigh-Johnson (keyboards), influenced by post-punk, electronic music and experimental rock, These New Puritans released their first album, Beat Pyramid, in 2008. This was followed by Hidden, their second album, in 2010.
In 2012, Sophie Sleigh-Johnson left the group. The following year, the band released the album Field of Reeds, which features the collaboration of Portuguese singer Elisa Rodrigues. The band's fourth album, titled Inside the Rose, was released in March 2019. With a guest appearance by Caroline Polachek on the track "Industrial Love Song", Crooked Wing was released in 2025.
