Dirty Projectors returns with new album

Dirty Projectors released his sixth studio album, Swing Lo Magellan , now available online for listening on the New York Times website. Furthermore, a short film has just premiered that shows them as protagonists and which is set to music with some songs from their new album.

The short film titled "Hi Custodian" takes inspiration from musical films like Prince's "Purple Rain." It was directed by Dave Longstreth and filmed in April in Southern California. Each member of the Dirty Projectors plays a person, while they play their new and unreleased songs like  “Offspring Are Blank” and “About To Die” and others we already know like  “Gun Has No Trigger” and “Swing Lo Magellan”.

Swing Lo Magellan it came out yesterday through Domino Records, but the New York Times made it available on stream along with an interview with frontman Longstreth in which he talks about rehearsals, new members and inspiration. "These are songs without any context," he said.
