Influenced by genres such as post-punk, hardcore punk and riot grrrl, Canadian band White Lung was formed in 2006 in Vancouver by Mish Way (vocals), Natasha Reich (guitar), Grady Mackintosh (bass) and Anne-Marie Vassiliou (drums). ). In 2008, Natasha Reich was replaced by guitarist Kenneth William.

On the Deranged Records label, the band released the albums It's the Evil (2010) and Sorry (2012). Sorry was acclaimed by publications such as Spin, Pitchfork and Rolling Stone. In 2013, bassist Grady Mackintosh left the band and was replaced by Hether Fortune. The following year, on the Domino label, White Lung released Deep Fantasy. The band returned with a new album, Paradise, in 2016. Six years later, Premonition arrived.
