Rostam

Rostam Batmanglij is an American multi-instrumentalist and producer, who became known as a member of the band Vampire Weekend

Son of Iranians, Rostam was born on November 28, 1983 in Washington, DC. At 14, he began making electronic music. In 2006, he joined Vampire Weekend, the group he stayed with until 2016.

In September 2017, Rostam released their first solo album, Half-Light. A year earlier, he had released a collaborative album with Hamilton Leithauser (The Walkmen) titled I Had a Dream That You Were Mine. Changephobia, a new solo album, arrived in 2021.

Released in May 2026, American Stories, the artist’s third solo album, features a collaboration with singer Clairo on the track “Hardy.”
