The Canadian supergroup The New Pornographers was formed in Vancouver in 1997. Its members include Carl Newman, Daniel Bejar, Kathryn Calder, Neko Case, John Collins, Kurt Dahle, Todd Fancey, and Blaine Thurier. Their music draws inspiration from styles such as indie rock and power pop.
Under the leadership of Carl Newman, the project's main songwriter, the band consolidated its career with the release of a series of acclaimed albums: Mass Romantic (2000), Electric Version (2003), Twin Cinema (2005), Challengers (2007), and Together (2010).
In 2014, the group released their sixth studio album, Brill Bruisers. Their discography continued to expand with Whiteout Conditions (2017) and In the Morse Code of Brake Lights (2019), marking a period of great productivity. After a brief hiatus, they returned in 2023 with Continue as a Guest and, in 2026, released their tenth studio album, titled The Former Site Of.
