The Kills has in its formation the North American Alison "VV" Mosshart (vocals and guitar) and the British Jamie "Hotel" Hince (vocals, guitar and drums). The typical garage rock present in their first EP, Black Rooster (2002), made the duo receive early comparisons with White Stripes.

Keep on Your Mean Side, The Kills' first album, was released in 2003. Next came 'No Wow' (2005) and the acclaimed Midnight Boom (2008).

In 2011, the band released their fourth studio album, entitled Blood Pressures. His successor, Ash & Ice, came out in 2016.
