This cover by the American singer is part of the series "Song that Found Me at the Right Time", a project by the entities Sound of Saving and National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, which work to deduct the number of suicide cases in the United States.

The song "Hurt" was released in 1994 on the album The Downward Spiral, the second from Nine Inch Nails.

Among the various covers that the song written by Trent Reznor has already received stands out the Johnny Cash version, which was included in the 2002 album American IV: The Man Comes Around, the last released by the singer during his life.
