Australian singer Courtney Barnett released a cover of the song “Different Now”, originally released on I Used to Spend So Much Time Alone (2017), the third album by the American band Chastity Belt.
About “Different Now”, Courtney Barnett revealed:
This song is so special to me. I remember when the album came out and I listened to ‘different now’ over and over, I thought they were singing directly to me. It’s a perfect piece of songwriting, I showed it to Kurt and he would always sing it to me on tour.
This re-recording will be released as a split 7″ on October 27th on the Suicide Squeeze label. Kurt Vile appears on the other track of this single covering “This Time of Night”, a song also from the aforementioned Chastity Belt album.
Courtney Barnett and Vile had already mentioned Chastity Belt in a video from the series “What's In My Bag?” from the Amoeba store.
