Born in Hereford, England, on December 30, 1986, Elena Jane Goulding began her musical career in the late 2000s. In 2009, she signed with Polydor Records and released the EP An Introduction to Ellie Goulding. The following year, she made a name for herself by winning the prestigious BBC Sound of 2010 award, which highlights the music industry’s most promising new artists.
Her debut album, Lights (February 2010), debuted at the top of the UK charts. By blending electropop, synthpop, folk, and electronic music, the album showcased her ethereal voice and intimate songwriting, establishing artistic affinities with artists such as Florence + the Machine, Lykke Li, Lorde and Robyn.
In 2012, she expanded her global reach with the album Halcyon. Three years later, she shifted toward a more expansive dance-pop sound on Delirium (2015), driven by hits like “On My Mind.” Ellie Goulding returned to a more personal sound in Brightest Blue (2020), while Higher Than Heaven (2023) prioritized striking synthesizers and dance-floor energy.
Their sixth studio album, I Know Too Much, was released on September 4, 2026, by Polydor Records. With ten tracks, the album marks the artist’s return to confessional lyrics, exploring themes such as relationships, vulnerability, and personal healing.
