One of the leading female names to emerge during the 1990s in the alternative country genre, American singer and songwriter Neko Case developed her solo career in parallel with her collaborations as a member of the Canadian band The The New Pornographers.
Born on September 8, 1970 in Alexandria, Virginia, she began playing drums in several bands in the Northwest punk rock scene at the age of 18. In 1994, she moved to Vancouver, Canada.
In 1997, Neko Case released her debut album, The Virginian, under the name Neko Case and her Boyfriends (her backing band). In 1998, she returned to the United States. Living in Seattle, she began working on her second album, which, entitled Furnace Room Lullaby, came out in 2000. Afterwards, the singer moved to Chicago, where in 2001 she released the Canadian Amp EP. The following year, the album Blacklisted was released, which was well received by critics.
Neko Case signed in 2004 with the Anti Records label, through which he released his following albums: The Tigers Have Spoken (live, 2004), Fox Confessor Brings the Flood (2006), Middle Cyclone (2009) and the praised The Worse Things Get, The Harder I Fight, The Harder I Fight, The More I Love You (2013). In 2018, she returned with a new album, Hell-On.
