The Linda Lindas is an American pop-punk band formed in Los Angeles in 2018 by Bela Salazar (guitar and vocals), Eloise Wong (bass and vocals), and sisters Lucia de la Garza (guitar and vocals) and Mila de la Garza (drums and vocals). At the time, the members were between 7 and 13 years old.
The group’s story began at the Girlschool festival, when the young musicians were brought together to back up Kristin Kontrol during a performance. Months later, they officially formed the band and began opening shows for artists such as Bleached, Best Coast, and Bikini Kill. In 2020, they independently released their self-titled EP, The Linda Lindas, and the following year, they contributed to the soundtrack for the film Moxie, directed by Amy Poehler.
International recognition came in May 2021, when a video of their performance of “Racist, Sexist Boy” — recorded at the Los Angeles Public Library — went viral on social media. The song, inspired by an experience of racism Mila de la Garza had endured, received praise from figures such as Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine), Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Thurston Moore, and Kathleen Hanna (Bikini Kill). Later that year, the quartet signed a contract with Epitaph Records.
In 2022, the band released Growing Up, their first studio album. Produced by Carlos de la Garza, Lucia and Mila’s father, the album combined the energy of punk with pop melodies and lyrics about growing up, identity, friendship, and the anxieties of adolescence.
Their second album, No Obligation, arrived in October 2024 and expanded the group’s sound with elements of garage rock, power pop, new wave, post-punk, and Spanish-language rock.
In June 2026, the quartet announced their move to Reprise/Warner Records. Two months later, they released their third album, Gotta Get Out. Composed collectively during a creative retreat, the album explores new textures, including synthesizers and influences from alternative music, without straying from the group’s punk roots.
