The French duo formed by Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoit Dunckel received acclaim for their debut album, Moon Safari, released in 1998. Before that, in 1997, Air released the EP Premiers Symptômes.

With analogue synthesizers, organs and other technological trivia, Air produced one of the most praised records in electronic music of the 1990s. The two members' experiments made Moon Safari a record with rare pop genius, and "Sexy Boy" like theirs. first big hit.

In 2000, the duo released the album The Virgin Suicides, the soundtrack to the film "The Suicidal Virgins", by director Sofia Coppola. In The Virgin Suicides only the track "Playground Love" features vocals. As a result, the duo released the albums 10 000 Hz Legend (2001), Talkie Walkie (2004), Pocket Symphony (2007) and Love 2 (2009).

In early 2012, Air released Le Voyage Dans La Lune, an album inspired by the silent film "Le Voyage Dans La Lune (A Trip To The Moon)" (1902) by French filmmaker Georges Méliès.
