First Aid Kit

Formed in 2007 in Stockholm, Sweden, the indie folk duo First Aid Kit consists of sisters Johanna (born October 31, 1990) and Klara Söderberg (January 8, 1993). Klara was only 13 years old when the band was formed. “Tangerine,” one of their first compositions, was the track that first helped the young duo gain traction on Swedish radio.

Their debut EP, Drunken Trees, was released in Sweden in 2008. The following year, it was reissued in an expanded edition by the British label Wichita Records. The buzz surrounding a cover of “Tiger Mountain Peasant Song” by Fleet Foxes, which was posted online, helped introduce the duo to an international audience.

Their first studio album, The Big Black and the Blue, was released in 2010. The album paved the way for extensive international tours, taking the duo to perform in the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. In January 2012, the band released its second album, The Lion's Roar. That same year, Johanna and Klara performed at major North American festivals, such as Lollapalooza and the Austin City Limits Music Festival.

Their acclaimed third album, Stay Gold, was released in June 2014. It featured notable collaborations with musicians such as Peter Buck (R.E.M.) and Glen Kotche (Wilco), the duo released Ruins in January 2018. In September of that same year, they released the EP Tender Offerings, consisting of four songs left over from the recording sessions for Ruins.  In 2022, the duo released their fifth studio album, Palomino.
