Real Estate

From Ridgewood, New Jersey, Real Estate was formed in 2008 by Martin Courtney (vocals/guitar), Matt Mondanile (guitar), Alex Bleeker (bass) and Etienne Pierre Duguay (drums). In 2011, the band had changes in its lineup with the replacement of Duguay by Jackson Pollis and the entry of Jonah Maurer (keyboards/guitar). However, before, in 2009, the group had already released their first album, Real Estate, which was well received by critics. In particular, earning an 8.5 rating from the website Pitchfork.

Following the release of their first album, Real Estate toured with artists such as Girls, Kurt Vile and Deerhunter, serving as the opening act. In 2011, the group signed with the Domino Recording label, which released Days, their second album.

With keyboardist Matt Kallman (who replaces Jonah Maurer), the band released the critically acclaimed album Atlas in March 2014. In 2016, Matt Mondanile left the group. A new album, In Mind, was released in 2017.

Real Estate released the album The Main Thing in 2020. According to the band, the recording process was inspired by Roxy Music's album Avalon (1982). The title of this work was taken from one of the tracks on Avalon. In 2024, the group released Daniel.
