Bright Eyes is an indie rock project formed and led by American singer/songwriter Conor Oberst, also co-founder of the Saddle Creek Records label. Born on February 15, 1980, the musician from Omaha, Nebraska, began to draw attention at the age of 14 when he led the band Commander Venus.

Conor Oberst joined several bands, but it was Bright Eyes, with its style based on folk, indie rock and electronic music, that became his main one. Letting Off the Happines, the first album, released in 1998, brings collaborations by musicians from the bands Lullaby for the Working Class, Neutral Milk Hotel and Of Montreal. The following year came out the EP Every Day and Every Night.

Fevers and Mirrors, 2000 album, highlights the inclusion of instruments such as flute, piano and accordion in the group's music.

Conor Oberst was widely celebrated by the press in 2002, when Bright Eyes released the album Lifted or the Story Is in the Soil, Keep Your Ear to the Ground. This work was well received by The New York Times and The Los Angeles Times and Time, Rolling Stone, Blender and Spin magazines, and sold over 250,000 copies.

In 2005, the band released two albums of different styles: I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning and Digital Ash in a Digital Urn. The first under the influence of folk and the second of electronic pop.

After the 2007 album Cassadaga, Bright Eyes only returned in 2011 with a new studio work. The People's Key was released in February of that year. After a long pause, the album Down in the Weeds, Where the World Once Was arrived in 2020.
